Muttley Crüe Organics was established by Annie Cole in 2009 in Calgary, AB and has become the first environmentally friendly and sustainable pet care business of its kind in North America.  As a locally owned and operated facility, Muttley Crüe is a proud member of Be Local; a not-for-profit association for businesses that care about the community and the environment, which is what we are all about.

Why Organic?

At Muttley Crüe we don’t treat being environmentally friendly as a trend, fad or craze.  We treat it as a way of life which is why we were the first sustainable and environmentally friendly business of our kind in North America!  This beautiful earth has looked after us and four legged friends for long enough so now it’s our turn to look after her.  No matter how small we may think our footprints are, combined with everyone else’s we make a huge impact which also means that no matter how small we may think our individual contributions are to keep our beautiful earth happy and healthy, combined we can make an even bigger, positive impact!

With our recycling and composting program including dog hair and poop we have reduced our waste to under 1%!

We are 100% Bullfrog Powered (since 2010) meaning our clippers and dryers run off of renewable wind power and
we keep Fido toasty all winter long with renewable gas sourced from methane gas captured from landfills.

All of our cleaners and shampoos are organic, chemical free and fair-trade and made right here in Calgary by companies  like All Things Jill and Small Planet keeping both Fido and our earth happy and healthy!

We even make sure our compostable bags and poop bags are made right here in Canada!

Hi Crüe!

For those that don’t me my name is Annie Cole and I’m the owner/operator and lead groomer at Muttley Crüe Organics. I have been an animal lover (okay, nutbar!) since before I can even remember. I grew up in a small farming community in Southern Manitoba with cats, birds, lizards and a horse and was raised by parents who loved and respected animals as much as I do… this love of all things nature is definitely home grown!

I always knew I would spend my life working with animals and in 2000 I was lucky enough to land a part-time job bathing dogs at a local salon.  Within two weeks I had quit my full-time job and knew this was where I belonged!
After working for in the industry for 9 years in both private and corporate salons I knew that things had to be done differently; differently in how dogs were handled and cared for, how staff were treated and how our industry impacted this beautiful planet so in 2009, Muttley Crüe Organics opened its doors for the first time!

We started out as a little, open concept/kennel free and organic grooming salon in the heart of Bridgeland.  Within the first year we had won numerous Community Choice Awards for Best Pet Grooming and by 2013 we achieved the Chamber Of Commerce Small Business Week Award for Environmental Stewardship becoming the first sustainable, eco-friendly business of our kind in North America and by 2015 The Community Economy Leader Award for our commitment to our staff and support of other local businesses!

In 2005 I met the love of my life and soulmate; her name was Jasmine and after adopting her I’m sure she thought I saved her life but it was my life she changed forever!  Over my years with her and being in the industry I got to experience first hand how other businesses operated and what the standard of care was for not just grooming but for daycare and boarding, as well. I struggled finding a place that I trusted to leave her knowing all too well that what was advertised and on the surface was not even close to what happened behind closed doors so I thought…. what if there was a place were there were no closed doors??

So… Muttley Crüe Organics part deux happened!
On July 5th, 2015 I moved my tiny little piece of dog heaven in Bridgeland into a beautiful new facility where we could offer daycare and boarding services that I would trust for my own dogs while still maintaining our
commitment to the environment and our staff!
